History: The 1954 University of Oregon baseball team finished atop the Pacific Coast Conference with a conference record of 11-5-0. They progressed through the District 8 playoffs, defeating Seattle University and Fresno State (twice) on their way to the College World Series where they were eliminated by the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The 1954 team featured All-American dual athlete George Shaw. While at the U of O, Shaw played both baseball and football before the QB was drafted by the Baltimore Colts in the 1955 NFL Draft. Shaw went on to play for the Colts, New York Giants, Minnesota Vikings and the Denver Broncos.
