History: Originally pegged as Larry Bowa’s potential successor as Phillies’ shortstop, Sandberg was instead traded to the Chicago Cubs for the 1982 season. After initially starting at third base for Chicago, Sandberg became a star when the Cubs moved him to second. In 1990 he set a record with 123 consecutive errorless games. He was a 10-time NL All Star and nine-time Gold Glove winner. Sandberg retired as a player in 1996, and later managed the Phillies from 2013 to 2015. He was inducted into the Hall on the third ballot in 2005.
