History: Named for Tennessee’s Lookout Mountain, the club played in the Southern Association going back to the turn of the century. The ‘39 Lookouts were led by Bill “Swish” Nicholson, who finished the campaign with a .334 batting average and 23 home runs. Nicholson would go on to make five All Star appearances while playing with the Chicago Cubs, twice leading the National League in both home runs and RBIs.
