League: West Coast Baseball Association
History: In 1946, an attempt was made to create a Pacific Coast Negro League called the West Coast Baseball Association. Abe Saperstein, the promoter behind the Harlem Globetrotters, was a major backer of the new circuit. After the collapse of the WCBA, the Sea Lions played as a barnstorming team, and female player Toni Stone joined them for a time. Stone went on to play for the Indianapolis Clowns of the Negro American League.
