History: In the club’s decade-long run in Richmond beginning in 1964, the Virginians never once made the playoffs. However, the ’60 team did feature a 33-year-old infielder and Richmond native named Granny Hamner, who came to the Virginians after playing over 15 years with the Philadelphia Phillies, making three All Star teams, and hitting .429 in a losing effort against the New York Yankees in the 1950 World Series.
