History: Stan “The Man” Musial was coming off a record 1944 season with the World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals. In January 1945 he enlisted in the US Navy, first reporting to the Bainbridge Naval Station in Maryland, where he wore this jersey. After the war he resumed his storied career with the Cardinals, with whom he played until 1963.
