History: The Asahi were the most popular Vancouver baseball club between the first and second World Wars. The Japanese-Canadian team were known for “brainball” – winning games based on a strategy of bunting and stealing bases. Apart from winning ten senior baseball championships from 1919 – 1940, they were forced to disband in 1942.
