History: The Brooklyn Robins (not officially the Dodgers until 1932) won their first NL pennant since 1900. They lost to the Boston Red Sox, led by a young pitcher named Babe Ruth, who dominated Brooklyn in Game 2 by pitching 13 consecutive scoreless innings. The Brooklyn offense was led by outfielder Casey Stengel, who hit .364 for the series. Casey, incidentally, hit the first-ever home run at Ebbets Field in 1913.
