History: The embryonic version of the club that would become the Brooklyn Dodgers––and hence, later the Los Angeles Dodgers––the Bridegrooms represented Brooklyn in the American Association in 1889, winning the league pennant behind pitcher Bill Caruthers, who won 40 games. The club joined the National League in 1891, moved into Ebbets Field in 1913, and took on the modern “Dodgers” nickname in 1932.
