League: American League
History: The red “B” with white outline that has continued to this day made its first appearance in 1946, although on a sewn 2-layer felt – rather than embroidered – application. The Bosox won the American League pennant that year, finishing twelve games over the Detroit Tigers (the Yankees, unusually for that time, finished third). The Fenway faithful, however, were disappointed to see the Sox lose narrowly to the St. Louis Cardinals in a seven-game World Series.
