History: On April 16, 1960, over 12,000 people turned out at Cheney Stadium for Tacoma’s first appearance in the Pacific Coast League since 1905, a doubleheader against the Portland Beavers. After losing the first game, Tacoma won the nightcap behind 22-year-old starting pitcher Juan Marichal (#21) who would go on to a Hall of Fame career with the San Francisco Giants.
